Solid plated zinc second pattern U-boot spange designed by Entwurf Peekhaus and produced by the maker Schwerin & Söhne, Berlin 68, for U-boat personal. The silver plated finish shows some signs of zinc bubbling as is often seen on these clasps to the reverse. The badge has its typical crimped in flat wire catch which rotates slightly and integral hinge system. Very nice condition.

V.G.C. Maker marked Royal Works Owen & Co (Bow) Ltd and stamped Paymaster Commander which was a Royal Navy rank until 1944. The chin strap has become detached on one side. Small pin holes to front and rear where badges have been attached and a small hole to the front right of the rim. Bristol Arts Centre has also been written on the interior. |
